The Cognitive Disorders advisory group is responsible for reporting, on behalf of the ABN, upon matters relating to Cognitive Neurology. The focus of most of their work is dementia. They regularly provide comment on consultation documents and guidelines from governmental, medical and voluntary sector organisations. They also assist Council with aspects of ABN conferences relating to cognitive neurology.

The Movement Disorders advisory group is concerned with hypokinetic movement disorders including Parkinson's disease and Parkinson-like conditions, along with hyperkinetic movement disorders including the dystonias, choreiform conditions, tic disorders, myoclonus, and ataxias. This advisory group is closely allied to the ABN Movement Disorders Special Interest Group (British and Irish Neurologist's Movement Disorders Group - BRING MD).
